ScanAJoke
Point a camera at real-world text; the browser reads it and OpenAI turns it into a pun.
AI
Overview
Scan. Read. Laugh.
Turn real-world text into instant AI puns.
Scan a receipt, sign, page, note, or screenshot. Scanajoke extracts the text in your browser, then asks OpenAI to write a quick joke or pun from what it found.
Purpose
Turn real-world text into a quick pun using on-device OCR plus OpenAI.
How it works
The user scans a receipt, sign, page, note, or screenshot (or uploads an image). OCR runs in the browser. Extracted text is shown for correction, then sent to OpenAI for a short joke or pun. Example text is available if the camera is unavailable. There is no heavy account system on the landing flow — scan, review, punchline.
Architecture
- Vite + TypeScript single-page app
- In-browser OCR pipeline
- OpenAI for joke generation
- Optional upload path alongside camera capture
What you can do
- Photograph or upload text-bearing images
- Review and edit OCR output
- Generate a one-off pun from that text
- Try example text without a camera
Data & access
Primarily ephemeral client-side flow; OpenAI receives only the text you submit for the joke.
